Bermuda requires a minimum of about half the day in sunlight; if it gets more than half the day in shade, it won’t do well.
Emerald Zoysia needs at least 30% of the day in sun.
Fescue is the most shade tolerant of all.
If you have mixed sun/shade, try to get a good idea of about how much sun/shade the area is exposed to, and then make a judgement call.
